Spejdersport is Denmark’s biggest supplier of equipment for outdoor adventures and is driven by passionate people with a passion for memorable experiences and the outdoors. We work best when we work with enthusiasts, who approach the tasks just as passionately as we do, and who is just as ambitious on behalf of their company. Therefore, we were excited when we could develop a picking system for their inventory, which would lessen manual labor and secure a faster delivery to their adventurous customers.
A few years ago, all inventory management was handled with a piece of paper when picking items from online orders. It took a lot of time and costed a lot of man-hours, so they started looking for a solution with a handheld scanner, which could quickly register items in inventory. Already at our first meeting, which occurred randomly, we agreed that they had a greater optimization potential if we approach the processes holistically.
With good chemistry and matching ambitions, a great collaboration quickly took shape. For Spejdersport, the most important task was to eliminate the need for paper because of their concern for the environment, and therefore, we made sure to digitalize and automate the process. Before, a single warehouse employee had to pool 10 orders and plan the best route through the warehouse. Today, the system helps find the shortest route, while updating with the ERP-system, so less time is spent in the warehouse and the waiting time is shorter for the customer.
